BIO:

William was the son of Jonathan Forsaith (1772-1841) and Naomi Butterfield (1778-1841), and the grandson of William Forsaith and Jane Wilson. His grandfather was said to be the second settler in Deering [The History of Hillsborough Co., New Hampshire, J.W. Lewis & Co., 878 pages, 1885].

William was born and raised on the family farm at Deering, New Hampshire, and was a life-long resident.

William, a carpenter and farmer, married first Lydia DOWNING, on 29 November 1821 in New Hampshire, probably at Deering, where they were both born and raised.

His wife Lydia died in 1841.

William married second Relephe GEORGE on 12 April 1842 at Weare.

They moved to Deering, New Hampshire, not long afterwards, and remained there the rest of the lives. They were enumerated there in the 1850, 1860, 1870, and the 1880 U.S. Censuses.

Even in his last years, he retained clear memories of his early life and the history of Deering [The History of Hillsborough Co., New Hampshire, J.W. Lewis & Co., 878 pages, 1885].

Lydia, William, and Releph share a headstone.

Children with his first wife Lydia (born at Deering, New Hampshire[IGI]); surname Forsaith:

1. Marilla Jane (1823-circa 1863). She married Charles CODMAN and James Eaton RICHARDS.
2. William Manly (1824-1830).
3. Joshua Downing (1826-1827).
4. Patience Downing (1827-1833).
5. Ursula R. (1831-1887). She married Stephen Dow WYMAN.
