BIO:
Lydia was the daughter of Joshua Downing (1769-1858) and Patience Chase (1771-1844), natives of Hampton Falls, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire.
Lydia was the granddaughter of Joshua Downing, great-granddaughter of Joshua Downing.
Lydia was born at Deering on 22 August 1795 (N.H. VR); she also died there in 1841 and was not mentioned in her father's will of 1846.
Lydia was raised on the family farm at Deering.
Lydia married William FORSAITH, a carpenter and farmer, on 29 November 1821 in New Hampshire, probably at Deering, where they were both born and raised.
Lydia was survived by her husband and two daughters, Marilla Jane and Ursula R.
Following Lydia's death, William married, second, Releph GEORGE in 1842. William, of Deering, helped to inventory the estate of his former father-in-law Joshua DOWNING, at Deering, in 1858 [Hillsborough Co., N.H., Probate Records, No. 02887].
His brother-in-law Stephen Downing inherited his father's farm at Deering and the bulk of his father's estate in 1858 [Hillsborough Co., N.H., Probate #02887]. Joshua's other children received $5 each from their father's estate.
William and Releph remained in Deering following their marriage [Federal Censuses].
Lydia, William, and Releph share a headstone.

2. William Manly (1824-1830).
3. Joshua Downing (1826-1827).
