DEERING - Kathleen Yeaple, 81, of East Deering Road, died Thursday at Concord Hospital. She was born in Hartford, Conn., the daughter of Edward and Kathleen Clare. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1941 and graduated from Yale University in 1944. She lived in Deering since 1967. She worked as head nurse at New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Conn., and as an instructor at the University of Michigan. Yeaple served as associate professor and assistant director of nursing at the Medical College of Virginia; educational director of nursing from 1950 to 1954; and as director of the School of Nursing at Concord Hospital from 1954 to 1983. The former School of Nursing building is currently named the Kathleen C. Yeaple Building in her honor and the Deering Town Report of 1994 was dedicated to her and her husband for their contributions to the town. She served on the national and state nursing boards and committees; as town selectman, on the Zoning Board, budget committee, and as town auditor. She was a member of St. Paul's Church in Concord and an associate member of the Community Church in Deering. She was active in the Women's Guild. Survivors include a brother, Paul Clare of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Bradenton, Fla.; a cousin, Herbert Carpenter of Concord; and nieces and nephews. Her husband, Whitney Yeaple, died in 1996. Calling hours will not be held. Funeral services will be held March 26 at 11 a.m. in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Concord. The Rev. Robert DeWetter and the Rev. Joyce Lovejoy, will officiate. Burial will be held in the spring in East Deering Cemetery in Deering. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Park Street, Concord 03301; or Community Church, Deering 03244.
