BIO:
Third child of Gerald R. "Dick" and Flora (Dunbar) Ford. Raised in Winthrop, Mass., with her four sisters and three brothers. She graduated from Winthrop High School in 1949 and was married to her high school sweetheart, Herbert Frederick, in October 1950. Together for just shy of 60 years, they raised a daughter and two sons. Gert often said her family, both immediate and extended, was her greatest joy. She never grew tired of supporting or actively participating in all of her family members' endeavors and activities.
In 1968, Gert moved to Deering with her family and lived there until moving to Hillsboro in 2005. She worked for Phelps Photo in Hillsboro for many years and Adams Glass and Roger W. Guay companies in Concord. Gert was also one of the founders of the Valley Home Center and Hillsboro Mini-Storage. Throughout her life she enjoyed playing the piano, golfing, photography, painting, ceramics, stained glass, sewing, embroidery and knitting for her family. Gert was also very active with St. Mary's Parish in Hillsboro before her illness. She taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir, a lector, and a Eucharistic minister.
Gert was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Mary Maloney and Theresa Trainor; and one brother, Dick Ford.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert Frederick of Hillsboro; two sons, Anthony and his wife, Darlene, of Concord and Richard and his wife, Donna, of Concord; daughter Jean Marie Frederick Ager and her husband, Alan, of Hillsboro; three grandsons, Daniel and Alexander Ager and Richard Frederick; one granddaughter, Barbara (Frederick) Baldassare and her husband, Tim; two brothers, Paul and Robert Ford; two sisters, Ann Rawston and Flora Wells; and many nieces and nephews.
