BIO:

Sarah was a daughter of William S. Chase (1771-1852) and Lydia Chase ( -1850), who were natives of Seabrook, New Hampshire. Her father settled on a farm south of the old burying ground, near East Deering, and his success in farming allowed him to loan money to others in need with good security [see the chapter on Deering in The History of Hillsborough, New Hampshire, published in 1885].

Sarah was born and raised on the family farm at Deering; died there aged 87; and was buried at East Deering Cemetery [N.H. VR; Chase & Chamberlain, p. 316, 1928; Francis Lane Child, Gravestone Inscriptions East Deering Cemetery, 1927, p. 3].

Sarah married John DOWNING at Francestown, New Hampshire on 28 March 1833 (N.H. VR).

John was a farmer and was also a life-time resident of Deering [U.S. Censuses].

Sarah is buried next to her husband, John.
